Zenafri is a Nigerian-based creative technology company committed to creating culturally relevant and impactful educational experiences for African audiences. Our mission is to use technology and storytelling to educate, inspire, and empower communities, especially children and youth.

Since our inception, we have focused on blending African culture with digital innovation to produce engaging learning tools and media. Our early work revolved around mobile apps that brought African languages, folktales, and values into the digital age. Today, we are expanding our reach through multimedia platforms, interactive learning tools, and social impact projects.

Our Story

We began our journey creating culturally relevant educational mobile apps for African children, including:

Afrotalez – An African folktale app that introduced children to traditional storytelling in a fun, interactive way.
Teseem – A multilingual app that taught first words in English, French, Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba.
Decisions – An interactive game teaching young women and girls about decision-making on issues such as peer pressure, early pregnancy, STDs, and social health.
Shakara – An African dress-up game that celebrated African fashion and culture.

We also produced Sade’s Stories, an animated cartoon series following the adventures of Sade and Ali as they explore African folktales while learning basic literacy, numeracy, and important life lessons.

While most of these apps have been discontinued from app stores, we plan to revive them as web-based experiences on Koyamu, our growing educational platform.

Lafiya – A hybrid short film/documentary funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering’s EngineeringX programme, highlighting the health and environmental effects of open burning in rural Nigeria.

EdCon 2023 – As Royal Academy of Engineering Frontiers Champions, we organised this conference to explore innovative solutions to Africa’s education challenges.
